Hi this will be my first PC build. I would like to play the latest games at reasonably high settings, surf the internet and general home use.

I have a budget of around £1200 but could push it a little more if needed.

I have customised the following build from PC Part Picker for £1173

Processor - i7 4790k Quad

Motherboard - AS Rock Z97 Extreme3 ATX LGA1150

Cooler - Phanteks PHTC 12DX-BK 685

RAM - Corsair Vengence Pro 16Gb (2 x 8Gb) DDR3 1600

Graphics -  Gforce 980 4Gb

Case - Fractal Design Define ATX Mid Tower case

Power - EVGA Super Nova Nex 750w 80+ Gold

Network Card - intel exp19301CTBLK 10/100/1000Mps

Windows 8 64 bit - (Is this on a usb stick these days ?)

I plan to add a further graphics card in sli and double up the ram at some point in the future when the games demand it, ( i checked that the rest of the build will still be compatible with this and it seems ok )

(I will also need a new mouse, keyboard and headphones but will worry about that later.)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I play alot of games on ps4, but i miss pc gaming and would like a PC that is noticably better than that.

Thanks

David

I don't think Windows comes on a usb stick but getting a dvd or blu-ray drive is still a good idea.

Isn't that $60-$200 more for a cpu and/or mb?

it is. Stick with hasswell in my opinion.

I was thinking of the Gforce 980ti, but went for an i7 instead of an i5.

Is the ti worth the extra expense ? I do hope to upgrade my monitor for 4k at some point also.

That build above looks great but it doesnt include windows and its pushing £1500.

z170 isn't worth it. Theres still an extra cash fee remember.

Its not all the same price.

Okay, Which GTX980 are you getting and I would get a 212 Evo instead of that Phanteks

As i am trying to tell people, here where i live the price difference is around 15-20 eu for each part or less or in some cases lower)

Get the Cooler Master Nepton 240m.... its not that much more expensive, but it is A LOT more quiet... trust me, ive tested the difference between H100i and Nepton... its quite a difference indeed.. Nepton is slightly better at cooling then the H105 and H100i, but slightly worse then the H100i GTX....

Also, the Zotac AMP! Extreme is way faster then G1 Gaming... and costs less...
