Returning an SSD. Question about low level format.

A couple of weeks ago I bought an Intel SSD, I wasn't happy with the performances so I returned it and got my money back. On that SSD I installed Windows and even had passwords in a text file (yes I know it's stupid but I keep that file on an USB stick that's encrypted. And I copied that file to the SSD).

Now before I brought it back I used DBAN on that SSD. I used the default option which is DoD short 3 passes.

I used this method twice. So 6 times in total if I understood that method correctly.

My question is am I safe or not? Is there a possiblity to recover files from that SSD even after using DBAN twice on it?

SSD's don't hold deleted data like HDDs do. Once it's deleted it's gone and can't be recovered even if you tried.

that's not exactly true. While it's harder to retrieve data from an SSD than an HDD, it's certainly not impossible.

@OP, it's probably fine -- especially once you realize that the likelihood of anyone giving a shit is slim to none (not to mention it will probably be sent back to the manufacturer and refurbished).

The store from where I bought it is actually reselling it as used at a lower price.

I've read some articles saying that using DBAN on an SSD doesn't actually delete the data properly, is that true?

dban will not work on SSDs.

Intel offers software to securely erase your SSD.
