DVD-Writer not recognized

Go to solution Solved by ManIkWeet,

You should try a different disk, sata cable and port then, as the data connection seems nonexistent.

A few hours ago, I finished constructing my first PC build, and everything is working, save for the DVD-writer. It's an ASUS DRW-24F1ST. There no problem with the cabling, because both SATA and power are plugged in, and the drive opens and closes just fine. However, when I put a disc in, the disc seems (based on the sound) to very briefly spin, and the LED blinks for a few seconds, only to stop after that. When I open up the device manager, there seems to be no recognized device.

Have you turned on hot plug on the port which has the Optical Drive conected?

I haven't, how do I do that? Edit: I simply connected the DVD drive to the SATA 3 or 4 port, if I recall correctly.

Your CD/DVD drives are displayed under a different section...

I know, the drive subsection was expanded for another reason. The problem is that there is no tab for DVD/CD at all. That image I posted showed all the devices, save for audio inputs/outputs
