Audio Technica? Sennheiser? Something else?

Hi everyone! So I am looking to buy some headphones.... but I am a little stuck. What I look for in a pair of headphones is that they have to go over ear (completely), and they have to sound good :P Also, I love noise cancelling, but that is not a must by any means :D My budget is 250 bucks, so what are your suggestions? I game a lot, but also listen to music a lot, too. If you have any questions, please ask! Thanks!

So....... I suppose I should put something here....

For $250, see if you can find a pair of AKG K7XX or K712, You may even be able to find a pair of HD600 or HD650 for that price.

Thats my set up. And you can't get much better sound quality and the mod mic is much better than any mic on any gaming headset

Sorry to say but in the world of "200$ headphones", m50x is very low on the totem pole.

The M50x isn't particularly fantastic for gaming and the ModMic isn't exactly fantastic from a sound quality standpoint. It's just a solution, not necessarily a great one. The people at Antlion are super nice God bless em but people way way way overexagerate the mic quality on it. It's a good temporary solution but you'll be much happier with a stand alone desk mic.

I would recommend a pair of Senns or Beyerdynamics. I don't know too much about closed back Senns but I know lots of people like the Beyerdynamic DT770s. I have Beyerdynamic Custom One Pros and I like them. Quality is fantastic, just stopped using them because they're closed back. For your budget a ModMic 4.0 might be your best option since it's seeming like money will be tight for a desk mic.

Which are better in your opinion, hd600/650s or the akg k7xx?

They are all quite similar, K712/K7XX is a tiny bit more of a flat sound than the HD650, and HD600 is a bit more balanced than those I believe.

If you like a more mid/bass centric sound, HD650 is for you, if you like a more mid/high centric sound, HD600.

Well I use the Sennheiser HD 598 and a blue snowball and I quite enjoy it (other than it not fitting my head, but I appear to be an outlyer). The 598's have a very bright sound signature and have a ton of sparkle, but if you can go for the HD 600 I'd do that,

This. HD650, HD600, K7xx, DT880, DT770, HE-400 are among the headphones that I could recommend in a heartbeat, I've tried everything except HE-400
