Hi All,

When I boot my Macbook Pro, it gets stuck on login for ~10 minutes. I am not a computer noob (My college and work experience in IT says otherwise) so this is honestly very embarrassing and frustrating to deal with. This IS a Work-provided laptop, and I asked for a MBP, so that i could become more used to the Mac OS.

This has been happening since it updated to Yosemite a few months ago. I have "tried" to figure out how to modify all the startup programs and services, but I think i'm missing something because nothing seems to help. And whenever someone asks for a "utility" to manage that stuff (Like CCleaner for macs) The super helpful mac pro's on the mac forums respond with answers that make PCMR Fanboys look like amateurs.

Before "bring it to work IT" is brought up. Work IT is in Boston, I am in Oregon. The last time they "fixed the vpn" They did not even install the vpn, created a new user, and then "couldnt figure out why the small hard drive is so full" (They made 3 duplicates of my work files on the SSD in the process of giving me a new user account).

Thoughts?

As a Mac user myself I have never seen this. I have no clue. Did you try holding down the power button and restarting? That or just let it die and see what happens  :P

Yeah, doesnt matter "how" gracefully or suddenly I restart it, still does the same :(

Grab an external HDD to backup your documents and reinstall OS X. You know how to access the recovery boot option?
