Dont always believe everything you read. If you don nerd rage in a game and slam your hands down on your keyboard in rage then you should be fine plus I believe that Logitech has a 1 year warranty and the keyboard is fantastic.

Yeah, I am debating between the K70 with reds and the G710+. I am going to best buy today to test out the K70.

Don't believe everything you hear. There was nothing wrong with the key caps. People are legitimately more violent with keyboards than they will admit.

Alright good, It is on sale at best buy for 79.99 USD, do you think I should get it over a K70 with reds for 120?

It depends on which key you prefer. The G710+ has Cherry MX brown switches which have a tactile feel at about 2mm. The K70 has Cherry MX red switches which are linear (no tactile feel at 2mm). But I believe they both actuate around 2mm.

You will need to assess your intended use as well as your switch preference. If you plan to surf the web or play games all day, then a ten key less mechanical keyboard is a better alternative. It's much comfier to use a mouse without a ten key pad. If you plan on typing all day long or you're an Excel junkie, a ten key pad might be useful. I've found I can live without a key pad as long as I have a keyboard somewhere in my house with a pad if I need it.

They do both actuate at exactly 2mm :)

Also, why not just get a seperate numpad and use that?

Honestly, I do a mixture of 80% gaming 20% schoolwork/browsing. I tested the g710+ at my friends house, and I like the fact that it had orings pre installed. I'm going to test the k70 with reds today.

A spare Sony or HP keyboard from the 2000's will do. I guess if you really need a separate numpad... but you have to wonder, why get a separate numpad if you really needed one all along?  ;)

That's a plan. Keep ten key less keyboards in mind for the future. They take up less real estate on your desk and it's comfier to use the mouse.

Happy hunting!

@JohnT Yeah, I have been looking at the k65 also, but I am going to miss the wrist rest.

Edit: forgot to quote ..

I know my local Best Buy has both the K70 and K65. Depending on what store you go to, you might be able to see both and buy the one you prefer.

There are benefits to the G710+ in that it gives you 6 macro keys and it comes with an endless product support cycle. They will make drivers for it until the end of time. Also the back light is all white... where as the K70 and K65 are both red I think.

You mean for people who don't have right hands?

It gives you the ergonomics of a TKL, but also you still have a numpad! Lots of people do it actually [emoji14] regardless, for me it would be nice because I'm left handed!

Haha I'm just messing with you  :lol: I remember I saw a "detachable keyboard" where the numpad could be attached on either side of the keyboard, or completely omitted as a TKL.

Keyboards have gotten so much fancier in the last five years.

At my best buy, they only have the k65 rgb on display. But, it really is the same thing as a k70, just without the number pad. But they do have k70s in stock.

See I have a personal thing where I just won't purchase Corsair peripherals. I don't know why but I prefer Logitech. Maybe it's because I still own Logitech products from over a decade ago and they're still working today.

Which is funny because I have Corsair products from almost a decade ago that are still working today... but they are inside my computer cases.

Corsair = inside the case

Logitech = outside the case

Clearly others have different opinions.

I agree, I am against corsair.

My main reason is their cases.

They sell extremly expensive, plasticy, bad built cases (900D, 700D, 450D, 780t)

not a good case since the 650d/550d/800d

And the rest, well im just against them for that.

EDIT;

well i have corsair ram, but thats different, as

A: i bought it before i didnt like corsair

B: its ram

EDIT:

I also dont like corsair because its to mainstream.

Im serious.

Well I still buy Corsair memory and power supplies. I do appreciate that they don't spec out the cheapest crap on the market and stick their badge on it. But they tend to have a Sony attitude about everything... let's just get our hands in the pie just so we can get some market share. When a company does not specialize in any one particular product, how can you be sure they are putting any emphasis on any of their products at all?

The op might have different opinions about Corsair, and thus a different reaction to their peripherals.

But I agree about their cases. They could be a lot better for the asking prices.

I mean, some PSUs not the best for money.
