I have a dell Inspiron E1405 that wont always boot.

1 day you press power button, it turns on.

Another, the power light goes on, then off, and it doesnt go on.

But a different time, it will work.

Whats the problem?

Turn off the laptop, Remove the battery, remove the charger.

Press the power button for 50-60 seconds (it'll discharge any electric charges from the components).

Then try to power on.

a cable break in the adapter can be as simple as this, it charges when the cable is in a certain position but when u move it a tiny lil or touch the cable it doesnt charge ( with just a tiny movement its a huge cable break, can also be a small break... had it plenty of times on adapters )

Do the same thing again, but after pressing the power button for 1 minute, Leave the laptop alone for 5-10 mins, then put the ac power adapter only (no batter), then power on.

Also if it doesn't solve the problem, CMOS reset it is.

Refer your manual for that.
