overclocking...

would anyone like to come and overclock my computer for me..? it seems like such a large and intimidating task and i don't want to wreck any of the components in my new custom pc i am almost done building. is there anyway i could have someone else do it? maybe geek squad? anyone i could hire to do it?? ANYONE?

If you get someone else to do it then chances are you'll have to pay some money, what I would do first (and have done) is watch OC'ing videos until you feel confident in doing it yourself and remember baby steps, don't knock the multiplier straight to x50 because that may be a little bit of a challenge :P

Geek Squad sucks

And Overclocking isn't necessary :U if your going to do it, do it yourself. You need to learn. Watch some videos on it. It can take hours of STRESS TESTING

where you do nothing but, all you need to do for CPU is change a number then change two more

Yeah it's not that hard, just don't set the voltage to 1.6V like I saw some guy on the forum do one time.

Well it happened, it was at like 1.6/1.7 and the CPU died.

Yeah it's not that hard, just don't set the voltage to 1.6V like I saw some guy on the forum do one time. 

 

 

I run 1.6v through my 4770k all the time with lots of voltage going to the cache & memory controller, it's really not that bad, I've barely seen any degradation at all (around 10mv extra for same OC's).  Current gen chips usually need over 1.7-1.8v to die.

 

CPU's are pretty tanky, it's pretty difficult to kill them with volts.

Same advice is also relevent here, have a look at some OC'ing videos from Linus, OC3D, Tek Syndicate, Pauls Hardware, J2C and so on and you can't go far wrong mate. Once again remember, baby steps :P

There are so many videos and guides to overclocking. It's as simple as changing a number and doing a stress test. There's really not much to it. It also wouldn't be worth it to have someone else do it for you

1. Dont screw with voltage. go as far as you can stock
2. bump up by 5 on the gpu, and by 50 on the cpu

stress test after each update of the clock
enjoy.
