My PC has 16GB of RAM. I was running windows 8.1 and even playing games I would not go over 60% memory usage. Now that I have Windows 10 as soon as I boot up I am using 70%-80%. I think it has something to do with the Xbox app winch I do use, and is the reason I have 10. Is there any tool I can use to free up some RAM by stopping background programs Because once I have my Chrome and Photoshop open I am using 100% of my memory and I know this can not be right. I can not find an easy way to stop all of my unneeded programs running.

i have been usijng way more ram on windows 10 as well and also occasionally use the xbox app, not sure on this one.

I run my own indie game company called Color Dragon Studios where we are currently making a 2d platformer game called Small Earth.

Same thing is happening with me. I don't know why it happens (sorry) but restarting seems to be a temporary solution.

People please google this. This is about the 25th post about this. Windows 10 has memory leaks. YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT

My PC has 16GB of RAM. I was running windows 8.1 and even playing games I would not go over 60% memory usage. Now that I have Windows 10 as soon as I boot up I am using 70%-80%. I think it has something to do with the Xbox app winch I do use, and is the reason I have 10. Is there any tool I can use to free up some RAM by stopping background programs Because once I have my Chrome and Photoshop open I am using 100% of my memory and I know this can not be right. I can not find an easy way to stop all of my unneeded programs running. 

Its probably that you did not change the background apps settings, it can make you running the Microsoft edge and other Microsoft apps

People please google this. This is about the 25th post about this. Windows 10 has memory leaks. YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT

if your using that much ram..something is wrong

 

do a clean install of 10

and get the newest drivers

 

if that doesn't solve it

then its either a driver causing problems....or some background program you are running that 10 doesn't like

 

10 for me usually idles around 1.5-2gb of ram useage for normal activities
