EOS M3 coming to the US, New 35mm L lens!

The EOS M3 had been released internationally a few months ago. They weren't planning to release it in the US at all. Many of the newer lenses that were made for the EF-M system followed this plan. Pretty good if you want a lightweight mirrorless camera if you're already in the Canon ecosystem.

If you're unfamiliar with the M3, the mirrorless camera has a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor (the size found in most entry-level DSLRs), Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity, and 49-point hybrid phase-detection autofocus.

The Canon EOS M3 will be available in black or white in early October. It will be sold alone for $679, with an EF-M 18-55mm kit lens for $799, or with HR_EOS_M3_BLACK_EFM18-55_IS_STM_3Q_CL.0.a two lens kit (that same 18-55mm plus a telephoto EF-M 55-200mm) for $1,049.00.

Also, the long awaited new EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM lens is being released along side with the EOS M3.

The availability is being announced alongside the introduction of Canon's newest lens, the EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM. That new lens uses what Cancanon351fii-728x403.jpgon is calling "blue spectrum refractive optics," which employs organic material to produce more accurate colors. That will also be available in October, and will retail for $1,799.

tl;dr: EOS M3 being released in US for $679 body only, $799 with 18-55 kit lens, and 18-55 with a 55-200mm for $1049. The new 35mm will be retailing for $1799. Both of them are being released in October.

It's getting very hard to justify Canons L prices when Sigmas ART series is giving them a whooping.

I'm still anxious to try this 35mm all the same, god if nothing else Canon nails the "feel" of a lens in hand like no other.

Canon is really starting to fall behind others. For that price, there are MUCH better mirrorless options.

At the MSRP I'd have to agree, however if you are considering it, buy it from ebay. Right now body only is around 400 from reputable dealers. I think at that price its reasonable. If anyone interested, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Canon-EOS-M3-Digital-Camera-White-/191675476464?hash=item2ca0bfa9f0

A7RII looks like the king of mirrorless to me. Full frame, great AF, smaller than DSLR, and a backlit sensor!
