First build loosing my mind.

my mother board came in. i got an msi x99s sli plus mother board and ive seen video's of people saying that i have to upgrade bios to use 4 sticks of ram....... and im loosing it cuz im not very good at this stuff. im just wondering if i actually need to update the bios to use 4 sticks of ram

Just try if it boots with 4 sticks of ram if it won't you will need to update.

But honestly if you don't know what you are doing and you are building on the X99 platform you'd better quit.

I highly doubt you need to update the BIOS to use four DIMMs of memory. Regardless, the manual has instructions on how you update your BIOS.


Yeah I'm gonna stick with AlwaysFSX on this one he is totally right but I probably didn't need to tell him that lol. Also if your motherboard still won't work buy 4 sticks of RAM obviously make sure they are the same kind and all that jazz :P

That is exactly what I thought! X99 is a little "Extreme" oh that pun tho. I agree he shouldn't of done this but no reason to get surly but I do agree you shouldn't have gone x99 for the first build that's a lot of money.

Omg the x99 is the highest end super powered processor! It's more powerful than the i7 4790k just tell me what processor you got because I hope you got the right socket!

 

 

i was going to get the 4790 k but then i got the 5930k because he said the 4790k wouldn't fit. im kinda sad cuz the 5930k runs at 3.5 and i wanted one that runs at 4

Dude....5930k is more powerful than the 4790k lol it's like waaayyyy faster 3.5 is a base clock! you can turbo it to 4 BUT YOU CAN OVER CLOCK IT UP THE WAZOO

OH MY GOD! TWO TITAN X'S HOLY SHT! Your friend totally knows what he is talking about! and I'm pretty damn sure you can turbo that puppy to 4 but you'd need a water cooler for over clocking because that processor is a god damn beast I rlly wish I was you right now!

You should have gotten this motherboard since you have this enormous budget but the one you picked up ain't to shabby itself lol

efff the short one wont work? oh and i didnt have any money left for a 4k monitor so i'll have to plug it into my tv :(

Can you return or exchange it for the X99 Deluxe or maybe the X99 Pro? Looks like your friend just picked the most expensive gpu that's out there. A pair of GTX 980 or 980TI is enough for your needs. Now without a 4K display, those Titan X are a waste. what is your specs and which site did you buy it from? And your still in the process of building it?
