I want to use shadowplay to record most of my games as I enjoy uploading but would a 6770 be better for recording as it would be better overall? I don't know which one is better.

Not so much because of shadowplay, because there are a ton of light-weight programs for recording gameplay, but because its slightly more powerful of a card.

Keep in mind though that card was only able to run games at about 30-35fps on max settings when it launched. So today we're talking significantly less, you're going to have to lower your settings considerably to get stable fps.

I'm only playing games like CS:GO and if it is higher end games I don't mind changing them

Csgo eh? Then you should easily get at least 60fps solid. That game will run at a million fps on a toaster.
