I keep getting this error when i did a scan of the HDD which was spinning or running 100% and slowing down

I did a disk cleanup and defrag but the error remains

and 2 of the three programs gave the exact same error and warning

note that this HDD was bought last year March

should i prepare to RMA this HDD?

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Normally Toshiba HDDs are good.

But in your case, it is not.

RMA is the only option.

Why 5.4k rpm?

Yeah I would RMA that drive to be on the safe side.

RPM means almost nothing with todays HDD's.

looks like time to use my 3 year warranty

grabbing a Seagate Hybrid HDD coz it used on a notebook

I know that. You won't get any noticeable difference b/w 5.4k and 7.2k.

Hey there dragoon20005,

The S.M.A.R.T. status indicates that the drive has problems reading data from certain sectors which is a strong indications that it's starting to get bad sectors. This is something that cannot be fixed (unless they are logical, then you would have to fill the drive with zeros and see if this fixes anything) and you should consider backing up your data and replacing the drive. Such bad sectors are actual physical scratches on the drive's platter and it forms a small air pocket. Every time the read/write head hovers over that air pocket, it bounces up and down and there's a high chance that it will land somewhere else on the platter, forming more scratches, thus more bad sectors. There's no way to determine if the drive will fail in the next few days or after one year, but it will eventually do that. Running chkdsk /r from the cmd has a small chance of isolating those sectors and prolonging the drive's life a bit, but it will eventually fail.
I'd run the diagnostic tool provided by the manufacturer just to confirm the results and possibly apply for a RMA procedure according to the manufacturer's guide (you should be able to find this on their website).
My advise would be to back everything important up ASAP so you don't lose valuable data. :)
