Well it's not free but it's super cheap, you can get Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro which are pro-grade software for like 3 bucks a month each from Adobe's Website.

Install Hackintosh -> Get iMovie (Yes it's £15 but you can swindle it off a friend's computer for free)

No movie maker plz  :P

 

I don't know of any good ones other than VirtualDub and for effects and composting Black Magic Fusion, just know that if you are not familiar with nodes then good luck learning it.

You could just use the trial or adobe premier
