Microphone static noise problem

Hey forum :-D

 

I have the problem that while on skype, my friends says that they can hear a static noise from my microphone, even when I'm not talking.

 

My setup: Sennheiser PC363D, Asus xonar DGX soundcard.

 

I don't really see what I can do, any help?

 

Also disabling microphone boost only makes the sound quieter but it doesn't go away.

Do you have another PC to try the microphone on?

Yes, I've used it on my laptop and on my phone, but it doesn't seem to be a problem on there :-)

Have you checked the microphone jacks to ensure they are making a good connection? Are you using a USB adapter at all?

sounds like it the mic that is the problem and should get a stand alone mic like a snowball

I'm not using the usb adapter/sound card from the PC363D, why should I get a standalone mic, Sennheiser makes great microphones and the old one in my PC350's were fantastic :-)

Have you tried plugging in the mic to the front panel microphone jack, rather than the rear or vice versa?

I have not tried that since it's plugged into my soundcard, maybe is should try using the onboard audio, instead of the soundcard to test if it is the soundcard or the headphone mic :-)
