DirectX 12, a coup d'état for AMD? - Ars Technica

Uber Hamburgler

Ars technica has done some benchmarking comparing an R9 290X to a GTX 980 Ti in DirectX 11.1 and 12.  I'll just sum it up to say that the 980 Ti easily trumps the 290X in DirectX 11 mode (we already knew that), but using DirectX 12, the 290X nearly matched the Ti in most scenes, and even beat it at 4K (actually getting semi-playable frame rates with a single card).

I won't spoil more because Ars did the work and they deserve to have you read the details on their site.
