it tells you how gunked up your cooler is with shit, and shuts it down so that you call lenovo customer support, and pay their outcall fee for services.....

 

Seriously though, just blow the dust out of your case every couple of months.

Its from my old Lenovo Case, but I have no clue what exactly it was for or if it is honestly needed. I doubt it is, but I'd rather keep it until I know.

it's a discrete temperature probe. something a modern motherboard does with internals. Lenovo being the cheap arse bastards they are didn't want to pay a mtherboard manufacturer to integrate it, so they built an add on that looks like it might plug into a usb 2.0 header to tell you what you already knew.
