New idea for a 'Smart watch'

Hey,

I was just watching the WAN show when i thought to myself about new ideas for smart watches. This was because Linus was saying how they could either be round or a square.

My thoughts were of inventing a new type of on-arm computer. Often seen in movies and what-not, similar to the pip-boy from fallout 4 actually. (But longer and lots thinner).

This could be a mini-pc thing that comes in different sizes for different fore-arm lengths or some sort of 'Adjustment' mechanism that makes it smaller.

Pro's:

Bigger screen size

Better processing gizmo's that could fit inside

Could be the start of development into a sort of thing that could work to help police officers, finding out where a crime is easily without having to have those bulky machines inside there cars.

Wi-Fi hotspot development (In built router of some sort)

Con's:

Costs. No more need to be said about that.

Different sized arms, everyone has different sized fore-arms making this a very difficult thing to do.\

Curve, they would have to curve the screen around the arm. Difficult.

Easy to spill stuff on/break

Bulky.

Just an idea, not expecting anyone to care but i just thought this was cool, so i shared.

Please let me know if it's already been invited :P

Please add more ideas about this below! Or tell me why this can't work :)

Cheers,

ReversePlasma

You are not the first to think of a tablet on arm. It has been tried already and kickstarted. Idk where it went though, probably nowhere.

I like my bracelets. don't need a bulky thing on during the day. increasing power on these things is almost useless, we don't need more power that will just drain our battery life.

Not sure if related to post or nah, literally just saw the word Smartwatch;

The only smartwatch I use is the Sony Ericcson LiveView. It's only got 6 buttons (4 capacitive) and it does exactly what I need it to do - show notifications, change phone volume and music tracks from the homescreen, and show call notifications. I run an open source OS on it called OpenLiveView, just gets the job done. Apps and all that fancy stuff on my wrist at a premium price point makes no sense at all.

It's completely blown out of proportion. Also if you're the least bit worried about data gathering then you should go live in a cave a 1000Km from the nearest establishment simply because every device and every entity gathers information these days. In the current era privacy is just fallacy and nothing more.
