I like it, but I would have gone with a better motherboard (ATX) and a 650watt PSU would have done. And I don't see a reason why you couldn't have gone with a 4690k or a non-k model of that anyway, seeing as you can't oc the 1231 that much anyway, and imo 970 is better.

I mostly said "why not" for the mobo, chose the PSU because it's pretty reliable and cheap, didn't go for a 4690K mostly for the sake of future-proofing, and the 390 since for the most part, it's faster than the 970.

Not for the sake of arguing, but the 390 gets like, maybe 3fps difference on the games that it does actually do better at, they exchange blows quite a bit. And the heat output, power consumption is much better on the 970, the 390 is basically an oc'd 290/x (which is not fun, like at all). And imo I'd argue the 4690k is more 'future-proof', the xeon is meant for more threaded tasks and extended use hours (like workplace environments).

robert's build isn't exactly the best for your dollar though.

I probably could throw an i5 4460 and cut this rig's costs down another $70.

Well when people set a budget, you should max it, that's kinda what budget's are for. For the majority of things: more money spent = more happy customer.

Because I'm a feature pleb and nothing but the best for my op. No I really have a problem, the name Z97 just kinda, sounds better, and I like Asus.
