what CPU should I use with that card? I'm upgrading my lil bros build and I got the 760 used for good price ($125) so I have enough for a mobo/CPU ($180)

I can't go with intel, I don't think the budget allows. and I'm affraid AMD's Athlon 860k bottlenecks the card.

what do you guys recommend?/are using?

the system has 8GBs of ram and a 600W evga psu (bronze) his current mobo is FM2, but he doesn't have usb 3.0 headers in this board. so I'm just going to buy him a new one. but I haven't chosen a board cuz I haven't chosen a cpu :P

You can always get an i3 and inexpensive mobo for under 180 USD. On AMD I would personally go for the FX-6300.

i3 is definitely in your budget and performs better than fx8 in games.
