CPU Overheat Problem

Go to solution Solved by CaptainSlow,

your pump is probably plugged or kinked..or not working...or you are appling the thermal paste wrong

The liquid could not be moving around, thus causing the temperature to rise. You should check if it is properly plugged.

Put your ear near the pump and listen for a faint whine/buzz. If you hear anything, the pump is working and it's probably the thermal paste.

Thank you for all your reply, I am pretty sure that the thermal paste is properly installed and using Antec Formula 7 Diamond. And I can hear the pump is working (there is a faint buzz sound).

But after changing it into the stock cooler. The idle temp now stable at 35 degree. So I think there is a problem with the AIO water cooler. I will RMA it now.

Thanks for all the fast reply! This forum is awesome!

Hi,

My CPU idle temp is raising over time. After a reboot, the idle temp will be around 27 until 30 degree, but after 30 minutes or so the idle temp is getting higher gradually until it reach 60 degree or so. I already reapply the thermal paste several times but the problem is still there. My ambient temp is around 17 - 30 right now.

My Computer specs:

Processor :  Intel i7 -4790K (turbo boost disabled)

Processor Cooler :  Cooler Master Seidon 240 M

Case : NZXT H440 with 3 intake from the front (120 mm) and 2 exhaust on the top (120 mm) + 1 and the back of the case (140 mm).

OS : Windows 10 Pro x64

Motherboard : Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H-BK (Bios F7)

Maybe any of you have some idea what's causing this or even a solution? Thanks!

Have you watched resource manager and watched if your cpu usage is spiking for some reason?

The only other thing I could of besides that would be something not being right with the cpu cooler.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I already watched the resource manager and the CPU usage is only around 4 - 10 percent max. So I don't think that's what causing it.

I think I will try to use the stock cooler to see whether the problem is still there.
