Work Servers not connecting

I CANNOT get a connection to the work servers. The only time I can actually get something is by manually initiating a start up through the web client but once the WU is done my PC crashes or the client will just sit there empty. I am completly lost. Someone please help. I'm new to folding and don't fully understand the client yet so try to keep it simple.
