So I currently have 8G of TeamGroup Elite Black at 1600MHZ and I'm planning of adding RAM. I was wondering if I was able to add a different branding of RAM with the current one I have now. I'm pretty sure I can't because of the way the RAM is made by the companies and what not. Let's say I wanted to add HyperX Fury Series RAM with my current RAM, would this cause issues or will I be able to do this without any problems? I'm not going to go and buy 16G of RAM when I can just add more of the same brand. I wanted to use another brand for the colouring and look of the model.

it can cause issues with dual channel but if you just get the voltages and timings right your fine the speed doesn't matter if it higher or the same lower can be a problem

Just match speed, timings, and voltages, all will be well.

wrong, never mix different brands because even if first timings are the same, secondary timings and tetriary timings will differ

do not ever mix 2 different brands of ram together unless u understand secondary timings and tetriary timings...

since u are asking this question on the forum... do not ever mix ram as u dont have experience with secondary timings and tetriary timings, even if the first timings are exactly the same

get urself a full new kit or deal with the 8gb

while first timings are always shown on ram kits, secondary timings and tetriary timings are never mentioned because they will differ per ram kit/and per cpu aswell... they will never have the same secondary timings and tetriary timings if the brands and chips are not of the same model

the last thing som1 want to mess with is ram because it can easily get instability and when ram is unstable... it will lead into file corruption and ultimately into entire OS corruption ( even if first timings are good but second/tetriary timings wouldnt match.. WICH THEY WONT WITH DIFFERENT BRANDs/KITS MIXED )

Dude I have mixed ram in my system. Don't tell me it doesn't work when it does. You're complaining about something that you failed to read. Matching timings means exactly that. Match. The. Timings.

as it might work, it is never fully stable... have fun with ur mixed secondary timings and tetriary timings... since u dont even know what those timings are... goodluck, because if u knew secondary timings and tetriary timings u would have not replied to me like this

have fun with the mixed kit and dont come crying for help to me later when u get issues ( u will get them sooner or later )

You're humorous. The ram is dead stable and all the timings match. Don't spread hilariously wrong misinformation? Please? Kthxbai.

all the timings will never match on auto settings by just setting the first timings equal, even if u manually set secondary timings and tetriary timings, each ram kit has its own DIFFERENT secondary timings and tetriary timings.... u are the one lacking on knowledge here and spreading wrong information... u dont even include secondary timings and tetriary timings... have a nice day and goodluck with the ram that will cause u issues sooner or later ( have fun with programs not responding ect x) and file corruption )

I just said the timings are matched. Are you saying this because you refuse to listen or because you know you've lost the argument before it began?

u cant match secondary timings and tetriary timings as they different from both kits ( even if u set them manually smartpants... )

and by the way u speak it is pretty obvious u have not set ur secondary and tetriary timings ( especially the tetriary ones coz even the ppl with the most knowledge of ram have troubles setting tetriary timings )   have a nice day and goodluck with the unstable ram(while u keep on believing what u wish, from here on you are blocked because you are wasting my time)

um...

Can I say I use mixed ddr4 ram? Ones corsair others GSkill. Same speed, same timings

Memtest86, 38ish hours.

No errors

Right. Let me phrase this in a way so you can understand. You are flat out WRONG. The timings (read: all of the boody timings) match on all of my sticks of ram. I have done countless hours of stress testing to make sure this works and have pointed nearly a hundred people in the same direction have have gotten ZERO complaints about memory errors.

End of story.

Goodbye.

Obviously memtest86 is wrong.  I've had memtest run for weeks cumulatively on my computer over the past few years, zero errors.

memtest86 pass does not ensure stability, especially when it comes to ram

if u want to fully confirm ram stable u will need to run memtest86 not just for 38hours but for a entire week nonstop

aswell as to run prime95 CUSTOM mode FILLING UP UR RAM to maximum ( memory to use in mb ) , if ur windows uses 2gb set 6gb if u hav a 8gb kit for example

a run of custom prime requires 21-22hours for each single pass and u need atleast 4passes total to be able to confirm ram fully stable

^^^^

stability tests can only confirm first timings and secondary timings, tetriary timings can cause issues even when u pass all stability tests for a month straight, could be that u would start getting memory issues 2months after due to tetriary timings(third timings)

with mixed kits u can never 100% ensure stability as tetriary timings cannot be analyzed in stability tests ( the same goes for refresh rate, u can set it insane high and get unstable ram while it just blows through stability tests )

ram is not a cpu and requires much more time to check for stability than a cpu, and different methods of stability testing ( a single prime blend wont do, or memtest86 )

I found some results on a filecheck after a cross-use of DDR4 and DDR3 and they had a few file errors, some errors removing the file completely, Just saying
