I'm using the Windows 7 File Recovery tool in Windows 8 on my newly built system. Currently, I'm saving an image only, as I do not have much room left on my external drive. I'm very familiar with how to use the tool for systems with only a single drive, but I am not familiar with how it handles systems with two or more drives. If I created an image on my external hard drive, replace my current SSD (probably going to send my current one into Intel) with the same drive, is it possible to install Windows on the new SSD and use the recovery tool once the operating system is loaded to retrieve my image?

Will the tool remember the state of two drives (HDD and SSD)?

The reason I am considering sending the drive to Intel for a replacement is because my entire system had crashed simply after trying to schedule the TRIM command in Intel's SSD Toolbox software. Prior I had to reinstall Windows about three times due to driver issues and the like.

Not to mention, this wasn't an ordinary crash and restart the computer scenario. The Serial ATA cable had to physically be unplugged and plugged back in for my motherboard to recognize it again (Intel 520 240GB). :(
