i currently have an i5 3570k and am wondering if i should upgrade to an i7 6700k.

have wanted an i7 for quite a while i5 is what i could afford when i had to replace due to bent cpu pins

If you need hyper threading then get the i7/ Otherwise the i5 is still very good, no reason to upgrade

PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps?

depends what you do with the machine...but no, unless it's a workstation it's not worth it...and if workstation get the 5820K 6cores/12 threads.

The i5-3570K is a very strong processor, and if you play games and watch youtube and stuff it's more then enough...and even if you render videos from time to time and stream to twitch it will still perform great...so unless you're a pro-user and you want to shave time on renderings everyday or something, no it's not worth it...at all.

The i5-3570K is just as great as the i5-4690K to be honest, it overclock well and if you can hit like 4.3ghz it will match a 4.0ghz i5-4690K.
