So, with the Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5 having been released, I will be getting it as soon as possible. I'll have to pre-order it from Scan for the time being as I live in the UK. Ah well, moving on...

My current case, the Corsair Carbide Spec-01, is an awesome case. It looks the bollocks and can fit a massive graphics card. But it's kind of small, can't take a very large air cooler, doesn't officially support a top mounted radiator, and there's piss all space for cable management. I would have gotten a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, but due to space constraints, I had to get the TX3 EVO instead. Still a great cooler, but that's besides the point.

With the MasterCase Pro 5 being able to take a max CPU cooler height of 190mm, I don't think I'm limited in terms of what air cooler I can get. So, should I get the Noctua NH-D15 or get myself a 240/280mm AIO instead? I could probably fit an NZXT Kraken X61 in the MasterCase pretty easily, but it is more expensive by £40 if buying from Scan.co.uk

So... Ideas?

Realistically, you ain't gonna need more than this fucker:

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/be-quiet!-dark-rock-3-cpu-cooler-with-135mm-9-blade-silent-fan-190w-tdp-intel-and-amd

Like BeQuiet is like Noctua but they give a shit about the way their products look.

Am I the only one who doesn't really like the way the BeQuiet! coolers look? I think they look kinda weird.

On the other hand, I like the look of the Cooler Master and Noctua coolers (well, maybe except for the poor aesthetics of the NF-A15).

For me personally, If the case can fit an AIO, then I would rather spend the extra money on the AIO.

But the clean lined, brushed aluminium and the sexy black fans

Doesn't really give the build a clean look when looking at it imo

NH-D15.  Turn that case in to a wind tunnel.  Three 140mm airflow flans like the Fractal Venturi in the front, one in the back, two in the top, all bringing fresh air through the case and out the back.  Poifect.

An alternative to the NH-D15 with a bit more compatibility with motherboard ram and PCIE would be the NH-D15s or the Cryorig Universal which beats the NH-D15 in a lot of tests, though by a degree or two.  Not as quiet, but quieter than an AIO.

What do you guys think are the pros and cons of either setup? I'm sort of leaning towards the air cooler because if I watercool my system, then I will probably build a custom loop.

Why would you do that? It's not that the nh-d15 can't cool your cpu, besides it's a lot quieter.

My rig wasn't built to make sense, I guess. Now wanting to pickup a cleaner setup which would be an AIO.

I think I have more or less decided on the NH-D15. If I jump into watercooling I will probably go all out and build a custom loop.
