Well, my Latitude E4300 randomly freezes (no BSOD, just lockup and then audio loop of whatever is playing). It doesn't appear to be load related, nor temperature related (it stays at a toasty 80-85C under full load, but that is well within the max temp). I ran MemTest86 on it for 2 and a half hours (mainly since I don't have the time or patience to run it for longer), and there were no errors. My SSD is still in perfect shape, and the OS is still a fairly new install of Windows 7 Professional x64 with all the goods installed. So, if you guys have any ideas as to what could be causing this crap, please let me know, since I will not be able to afford having this thing randomly derp out soon (school).

Windows being Windows, try a clean install

Actually, in some cases i've seen the laptop battery causing problems. Plug the laptop into the AC adapter and take the battery out, see what happens.

This is literally the third or fourth install just of 7 Pro.

This is an issue with the Latitude series and not just you. My sister's Latitude freezes anytime it gets too hot, just like you no BSOD or anything, just locks up, no HDD indication, nothing

Well tits. Any tips to make it less bitchy?

No, it is just an issue with the components used. All the workers who use the Latitude series has the same issue....once it gets how it just locks up. Nothing helps, no fresh re-install, no pixie dust, nothing. They all just press the power button to shut it off and then restart it but then over time that then corrupts the OS and then that is another problem.

Well shit. Time to shove a 120mm Delta in it I guess.

Although it really shouldn't be getting that hot just looking at Reddit... YouTube is understandable...

I guess when I get MX-4 and pads (if I need those for this), I'll be replacing some god-awfully old paste.

None of that will help but go ahead and try it out. That whole series, or the ones i have been in contact with, only work for long periods in like an air conditioned room.

I think the issue is with the TMP module, when the laptop itself gets hot it just locks up.

My sister's has now gone to my little cousin to play some farm app.

I wonder if this is in any way related to how the E4300 I used to use would get random screen glitches/artifacts that didn't seem to affect it in any way other than just happening every once in awhile. (Mostly while browsing the web.)

EDIT: Also, yeah, stock Dell paste is shit. Replacing it will definitely make it run cooler.

Your temperature are too high for your chipset. Remember that back in the days, Intel put the graphic chip on the chipset.

So those that went with an Nvidia/AMD solution didn't experience overheating issues, but those with Intel did.

Dell corrected the problem, like other manufactures, buy putting a larger heatsink in the system to cool off the chipset.

I know that in the case of the Latitude E6400, those with Intel GPU got the Nvidia GPU heatsink without the support for the GPU part. Dell put it in as it was larger.

To help further, some did the copper mod on the chipset. Meaning they insert a sheet of copper between the heatsink and northbridge to try and cool it off a bit better.

The whole debacle is why Intel put the GPU on the CPU. If I recall correctly the chipset max temp is 75C

Oh. Is there a way to purchase an update heatsink, or do I have to go full ghetto?
