I once bought a few Pokemon cards on a flea market and only today found out they aren't English.

Is this Spanish? (Sorry, don't speak Spanish)

Looks like Spanish, though I confess I'm not always able to tell Spanish from Portuguese based on individual words.

I think "altura" is height in both languages.

and in French it's 'et' (pronounce as the ey part in hey) and in Italian it's also 'e'.

So these languages are fairly similar in tone and how they spell certain things

Good to know, thanks for the info. :)

Yes, I think if I had seen "recuperação" instead I would've instantly known it was Portuguese, as Spanish doesn't usually use the ç or ã characters. It's just harder to go in reverse when I don't actually speak either language.

Just an interesting FYI, "et" is actually the original Latin word for "and" as well, which is the root from which all of the Romance languages started.

The ampersand (&) is actually a somewhat mutated ligature of the word 'et.' You can still tell from some renderings, such as Trebuchet MS: &

I know the first bit, but didn't know about the 2nd part.

That's really cool to know.

Next time just type out what it says in translate.google.com then use detect language.  xD

Just wanted to be sure, as for example velo is a French word too and tornado is used in multiple languages..
