my Samsung Smart TV is running a webserver?

Out of curiosity I'm checking what devices at home have open ports, as well as checking out what things I can run off my smart TV. It was my absolute last thought that the device would have an open webserver, which even responded to my request, albeit with a 404 message.

I'm currently scanning from ports 1000 down to see if any other ports are open.

 

HTTPS responded with the same Error 404 page.

Why these ports are open on a TV is beyond me. If you have a smart TV in your house, you should probably go scan all its ports now.

WiFi - 7ms, 22Mb down, 10Mb up

its probably for stuff like DNLA or other streaming protocals

Well good thing I don't own a smart tv. :P Might be for like web browsing though.

 

Either way, I have no use for a smart tv when I have a second rig that is also a htpc. :D

I thought at first it was UPnP or something, because I can stream music to my TV, but why they are using HTTP ports is unknown to me.

It's for viewing the web as you can browse the internet on smart tvs. Same with port 80.

 

Port 80 is used to recieve web requests, not to initiate outgoing web requests. All devices that I know of open a random port on the client side to communicate with a webserver
