My wifi though out the house was really slow. I had a BT Home hub 4 with BT infinity so I upgraded to a DSL-AC68U router by Asus. I then tested the wifi speed and it had got worse.

On my Mac I was getting 18 down and 1.23 up after and before I was getting 24 down and about the same up.

On my PC I am plugged into a Netgear ex6100 wireless booster and I get 2.46 up and 0.28 down.

What's going on help!

Is your router password locked? If not, put a password on it,

Is it your internet or your network?

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

  • You could be on the same channel as everyone else in the neighborhood. That'd cause interference.
  • There could be something blocking or mirroring the signal in the structures of the walls. To rule this out, do a test with a laptop right next to the access point.
  • To further rule out problems with Wi-Fi, compare your results to Ethernet connection.
  • Dual Band allows better speeds but also hinders range. Given that you're tied to the DSL speeds anyway, you could turn off the 5GHz modes.
  • DSL-AC68U is a 802.11AC device. This is "the best there is" but only if the receiver is 802.11AC too. Unless you bought proprietary AC receivers for your devices, they're likely 802.11N max.

There are free softwares for phones that are awesome for snooping Wi-Fi. The channels, the signal strengths and so on. And a phone is easier to move around with.

If any of this sounds too technical, feel free to ask me to elaborate. I'd be happy to help out. :)

Yer its password locked why?

Because if it wasn't password protected people connected on your router/modem doing their own stuff would have slowed down your speed, but since it is protected it is something else that's causing your problem.

I'd try giving a call to your ISP.
