Go to solution Solved by PineappleHolidays,

There is built up power in the psu ( all psu's have this )

Could you try testing it with the on board graphics ? ( take the gpu out and test it with the i3

My refurbished graphics card stopped working after 4 days. When I try to boot my pc, all fans except the graphics card start. Then the CPU fan stops after like 2 seconds. System fans keep going so I know mb is getting power. Nothing shows up. No post, nothing. R9 270, i3-4160, 1050 watt power supply.

I will turn on occassionally if I unplug the cord from the power supply for 20 seconds or so. What's REALLY strange is that the case fan keeps spinning for a few seconds afterward with the system unplugged, even if youanually stop it. Like there is built up power in the PSU or something.

If your MoBo cannot "do" onboard graphics borrow a pal's card that you know to be working (known good) and use that alternatively you could get a very cheap card that will provide an output but little else (you can get refurbed units from the likes of Amazon for around £5 ($8))

I recently bought a new pc (for my country house) and they are both with modular PSUs but difrent brands. My main pc is with seasonic and my country pc is with a cheaper brand dont realy rememder.

And so i wanted to power my optical drive but ran out of cabels so i grabbed a cabel from the seasonic box thinkink thet are the same

They werent :D

When i power my pc the fans and some leds light up bit for a second and everything shuts down

So i put out the seasonic cabel and everything was ok. Only my optical drive was dead but they are mostly cheap so no problem

Is your psu modular and if yes have you made my mistake :D

Breathing a HUGE sigh of relief.  Pulled the GPU and STILL no post.  Began swapping, first RAM into a new slot, then RAM I knew was good from another PC, then swapped in a G1840.  No post at all.  Reseated the 24-pin connector and BOOM, pc lit right up.  Still don't get how the case fan could be getting power with the 24-pin misseated but oh well.  All good here.

I feared my overclock had fried my GPU!  Very relieved.

Yeah, its modular.  Its a EVGA supernova 1050 GS (Gold silent series).  Jonnyguru rated it as one of the most stable Power Supplies hes ever tested so I didn't think that was it.
