Corsair vs EVGA

Go to solution Solved by tomas710,

About ready to start my custom water cooled build but have now had my power supply thrown into question.

I originally had planned to use a Corsair 1200W 80+ Platinum ($449).

But it has been suggested that Corsair is rubbish and i should go with a eVGA 120-G2-1300-XR 1300W Gold ($305).

Any advice suggestions on these 2 or any other option around this range.

The high end Corsair PSUs are excellent, EVGA played it very well, got seasonic and super flower to build PSUs for them and they sell them at very competitive prices, so we all love them, but when you're that high end, they are all good, it's more about price, and you can get an EVGA P2 1200W for 325, it has a perfect score on jonny guru (Extremely uncommon) and its 100$ cheaper, i'd go with that one.

Corsair is still solid but now there's other companys that are just as good now. I love corsair but went with a EVGA psu this time, Its good does its job and it has eco mode so its super silent!

Edit: and you cant beat EVGA's 10 year warranty and their amazing support.

I use EVGA for power supply and have recommended an EVGA PSU to everyone I helped build a PC at the exception of one person. They are cheap and reliable.

What's wrong with corsair? Yes some of the cheap corsair ones are garbage but there's nothing wrong with their high end ones. Either way both are good.

Also why do you want a 1200w power supply on a build using only 600w?

CPU: 6600K @ 4.6Ghz | COOLER: H100i GTX | MOBO: Asus Z170 AR | GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 Ti Hybrid | RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB |

CASE: Corsair 760T | PSU: Corsair RM750x | STORAGE: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB & Seagate 2TB | KEYBOARD: K70 RGB | MOUSE: Deathadder Elite

Compared to the other cheaper power supplies, they're shit.

Are you sure? Or are you just repeating what everyone else says like a parrot?

Corsair is the only company selling sub $50 PSUs with 80+ Bronze certification, apart from Antec with their 350w "Earthwatts" PSU which is right up there at $49.99

And apart from EVGA, Antec, and Cooler Master, the only other "cheaper power supplies" are all absolute garbage (Apex, Logisys, Coolmax, Startech etc).

Might I add, I own a CX-600 and know multiple people with CX series power supplies, and they perform just fine for cheaper, lower power builds.

Just because you know people go use the CX doesn't make it good. Temp tolerance of 30c is bad...... Like bad...

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Are those water blocks/backplates the right ones ? As you have GTX 980 gpu's in your spec but those blocks/backplates are for the GTX 970.

Surprisingly your the first to mention that lol. I noticed it just before, I have been playing around with the parts list a bit and missed it.

I have actually decided to go with a single 980ti and just add another in the future when funds aren't as tight. Also I think ill go with the EVGA SuperNOVA 1000W G2 Gold after reading everyone's advice and all the reviews.

Thanks everyone for the help, really appreciate it.
