GPU HDMI?

Go to solution Solved by alexhelvetica,

Hey so i recently bought a EVGA 970 gtx ssc and I am wonder if I can buy an HDMI 1.3 cause thats the hdmi my monitor can have.

I wouldn't use a HDMI interface, I would use DVI-D, DVI-I or Display Port instead.

But if your monitor only has HDMI, go for it.

this is the second time you have said this, do you have a source or further explanation to why?

all those signals are digital signals, there are subtle differences relating to resolution output able to be handled. dvi as far as im aware will not carry sound so if u require sound, hdmi will atleast carry the audio signal - source - http://www.l-com.com/content/Article.aspx?Type=L&ID=205

@YoungNoob

Don't worry about it. This forum, and the people-who-think-they-know-more-about-PC-hardware-than-they-do crowd more generally just have a stick up their arse about HDMI.

HDMI and Display Port both transmit eight channel (at least) uncompressed audio. DVI does not. There are specific situations in which you don't want to be using HDMI, and they are data bandwidth related. If you're operating at or beyond these limits (or want Free/G Sync) use Display Port. If you are not, it really doesn't matter.

The Frame rate, 4k it is locked to 30Hz and

Yes, HDMI can carry audio, but that have NEVER seen that as a plus.

HDMI I would only use for a game console or maybe a Media center.
