what i'm asking you guys is how often do laptops come defective?

i read a few reviews on amazon on msi's other products and it sounded like 1:5

Eh turn it on and see if it boots. If it boots it works. I haven't had problems with electronic purchases from Amazon, whether distributed from their warehouse or not

Even laptops you buy at a brick and mortar store can be defective. It's not like Amazon has some magical property that makes their electronics more likely to be broken out of the box. Absolute worst case, it's defective and you return it for a brand new one.

You won't have time? What does that mean? If you drop $1500 on a laptop and it turns out to be defective, you make time. You are psyching yourself out, you have a very small chance of receiving a defective unit. If you were buying some $300 piece of shit Toshiba or HP then yeah you should be worried. MSI is a reputable brand and at $1500 the build quality and components are premium.

Yes you have to return the defective product. Turnaround time for RMA is around 2 weeks. Can be more, can be slightly less. It depends on a few factors that are out of your control.

Or, just ask them send the replacement to the uni in germany... if it arrives defective.

In my company I have yet to receive a defective laptop, and we've ordered a lot of laptops...
