Not sure if this should be here or in the networking forum. My sister has a Samsung Smart TV, which worked with there old router. My sister recently upgraded to a TP Link Archer C7. Great router, great range, hope my router kicks the bucket soon. Anyway after the upgrade this TV wont connect, or even detect any wireless networks. When you scan for networks and box comes up saying its scanning then nothing. I know for a fact she has a few networks that might be in range of this tv. Under some advice I seen online we updated the firmware via USB and still have the same issues. We have not tried a wired connection but thats not really an option. She factory reset the TV and restarted the modem and router.

Any other ideas? Or should we look in to one of those wireless media bridges? Or could it be the wireless module in the TV? Is it able to be replaced?

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

There's a way to use a laptop as a bridge. So, you can use it to connect the TV via Ethernet to test if that works.

I just finished ranting on the topic of smart TV's to my parents after they bought one ( I offered to build them a media PC and they said no) and please dont think that what I'm about to say has anything to do with you and your intelligence, or your sister's for that matter.

But smart TV's are fucking stupid products and no one should buy them. There I said it. PHEW, I feel better already

Have a great night peeps! :)

P.S. I really did just feel like saying that. I know very little of networking.

Ill need to find my spare eathernet cable. But i think i should be able to run a test. The thing is when you check network status it does show wired network.

Now if that is successful what are my options?

Contact the manufacture and ask for an RMA or something.

Yeah That doesn't really go to well when its out of warranty. I guess if the wired connection works, I look in to some kinda wireless media bridge for it.
