Is my MoBo dead? ... I'm not quite sure

So, i just build myself a mini ITX computer with the following parts:

Intel Pentium G3258

Gigabyte GTX960 2GB 1x

MSI H81i

Cooler master B500

Kingston HyperX Red 4GB 1 DIMM 1333Mhz

Cooler master elite 120 advanced

Samsung 840 evo 120GB

When i first booted it up, it was doing great actually. No problems whatsoever. But you know, stock G3258 is not sufficient for most games. So i tried to OC.

That didn't work at all because the multiplier didn't change no matter what i tried. So I did an update to a newer version of the BIOS. I did this via MSI's automatic driver updates.

In the program it said it DIDN'T install correctly (no errors or problems though).

So overclocking was still not possible so I downgraded the BIOS to the driver that people used to overclock a G3258 with.

I put the BIOS update on an USB storage device, i plug it in and update the BIOS via the USB.

It was updating and it said the system was going to restart. So it did, but it never turned on correctly.

The system was running for 5 seconds, and as soon as the SSD starting writing or reading, it shut down. And then it boots again, and shuts down again. Over and over..

So I unplugged the SSD so there is no disk activity any longer. But when I boot it now, the fans are running and that's it. No lights coming out of my USB mouse/keyboard, no flickering on the screen, no heat production, no power LED, no disk LED. Reset buttons won't respond and resetting CMOS is useless, because the BIOS is fudged up..

Can I conclude that my motherboard died? And can I conclude that MSI or the retailer will provide me with a replacement or refund?

Thanks a lot if you have any idea on how to fix it. Maybe I'm just overlooking things..

If the BIOS update went wrong... anything can happen :$

Sounds like a brick to me. A failed BIOS upgrade (or downgrade) doesn't fall under warranty. It's on you, sadly. Unless you try to pull the old "it was like this when I got it" They might be able to call you on it or not.

EDIT: wait, what?! That's an H81 chip and no cooling on the MOSFETs. Why does it even have the OC menu?! It's worthless.

I think i'm going to tell them it started when i used the driver update utility. Which is partly true.

I dont think you can even OC on a H81 board.....

You would need a Z series board.

People did it before on the interwebs. Plus, the MB comes with advertisement for overclocking.

Well, it has the CMOS soldered on so the easy way to tell if you did it is out. Go for it, man! But try to get a better board for over clocking. Even if they have some tweaked BIOS that allows messing with the multiplier, those mosfets will burn like a bonfire soon enough.

I was planning to pay something extra to get a better MB in return. Otherwise refund and buy an OC MB,
