Happy overshoot day! Let it be later next year.

In less than eight months, we used more natural resources than the planet is able to produce in a 12 month period. For the remainder of 2015, we will be living on resources borrowed from future generations.

This year, Earth Overshoot Day—the approximate date in which we have overdrawn on nature's budget—falls on August 13. Small actions (even a tweet!) make a big difference and all of us play an important role in creating a world where we live within our limits.

I'm going to fix, clean and give away or put to new use all my unused, old rigs and electronics this year. Let's all do this! If it doesn't work, use it to demonstrate or teach stuff or have it recycled. Sell it, if you can. Make it into a home for cats or a piece of art. New life to a piece of junk will mean new life for you over time.

As much as it has never really concerned me in the past, I think it is about time we start looking at sustaining Earth, rather than just living on it and destroying it through doing so.

I pretty much sell everything that is destined for the rubbish.... Any dead laptops i get, rip them apart (quite literally), scavenge working parts (HDD's, RAM, Wifi chips, boards if it's a newer laptop) & stick them on eBay. Can easily get £10 from each laptop, HDD's are a pretty good earner.
