2nding Audio-Technica M40x recommendation except instead of a ModMic I would use a V-MODA BoomPro, not only great sounding, but cheaper and with a much cleaner cable setup.

 

A cheaper M40x alternative, that really punches above its wallet cost is the Philips SHP9500. Philips headphones are really underrated.
