Hello,

I'm running a i5 3570k with a Gigabyte Z77XD3H MOBO. Ram is Corsair CML8GX3M2A1600C9

A few months back I was running on 4.2Ghz just fine no problems (Using motherboard auto settings aside from multiplier that I changed Plz dont be mad) I decided to see If I could go to 4.5 since I have watercooling.

I went up to 4.5, I booted up windows had a few strange memory errors one from nvidia backend. Then BSOD.

Went back down to 4.2, same issues. I went and took the battery out the MOBO, done a quick reset. Same issues.

I then went down to 4Ghz, no problems at all, still on 4Ghz now, not 1 BSOD since, games working fine. All good.

If I put my CPU higher than 4Ghz, I get BSOD and memory errors.

Could this have been a CPU or Ram issue?

Thanks.

you just didn't win the silicon lottery.

keep what you have. no need to toss out something that works perfectly fine, but doesn't OC enough.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

I hope you changed the voltage when you oced. Just reset everything to default and try again

So the CPU is busted? Or would using correct voltage work?

just try different voltages (I wouldn't go above 1.3v)

Been trying out different voltages etc since. Nothing. Seems if I change anything from 4ghz auto voltage, I get BSOD.

Also I was looking at the CPU database on this forum, using other peoples voltages from same CPU up to 4.2 instead of randomly picking voltages to start with.
