2015 First PC Build

Go to solution Solved by bpw87,

h board is simple, budget, boards are easily swapped like i said... non K cpus are not

if u put alot of time in cable management u can just unplug ur 24pin and ur case connectors  + the 4/8pin screw out the mobo > screw in the new mobo > place connectors again and ur done... easy setup

and then again if he would take 1hour on it instead of 10mins its still 1000x better then going with a non k cpu, the non k cpu will be a total waste for future, the h board can just be sold or reused for a mediacenter or somthing :P ( or just as spare part incase u got a problem with ur proper board and need to rma )

u should make a poll really... NON K CPU OR K CPU ... check results :P gl ul need it :P

He said he wants a PC to play games. People said get an i5, now your telling him he needs to buy a cpu that can't even be utilized by the setup everyone was saying is good because he should upgrade the mother board later. He is on a budget a k series isn't a budget item. What if this PC isn't going to be upgraded and he just wants something to play games on now.

Because all boards have the exact same layouts

@pemberton_h Also you should look at the 290X they are about the same price and perform slightly better then the 390

It may have been a bug and it was the only game I was really playing at the time but it didn't do it before the stick died and didn't do after I swapped it out. I could hardly play the game it was really frustrating loading into the game a crashing randomly with nothing that seemed like a repeatable cause.

One channel is more than enough for gameplay, probably was a bug, or maybe just some coincidence.

total bullshit K cpus will benefit always in the future, even if he does use a shitty H chipset he can still oc it mild and benefit from K

u will not see any utilization difference or fps difference from having a low end board to a high end board, but he will have the benefit of overclocking in future

I can tell you now that GTA V on my computer crashed like all hell when I was running one 8GB stick of ram after one of my sticks died. Now I'm borrowing two 4GB sticks it only crashes alt tabbing which I'm pretty sure most people get.

pretty normal if u dont know what ur doing and dont set ur ram timings and voltages proper, but im done argueing with u... believe as u wish

You can oc on an h board. Don't listen to anyone who denies that. You can find many articles confirming so. I've already proven someone else who was saying the same thing wrong.

Yes you can, I know this but for a majority of people that buy a H board they aren't going to. It's his first build I'm pretty sure he isn't going to be going into his BIOS and playing with his CPU multipler, core clock and adjusting voltages manually. They are on a budget a 4690k isn't a budget product end of story.

I'm not arguing with what you're saying, there was some other guy who said that you can't OC a K-series on an H board. I'm planning on doing that when I get my computer parts. Just take a look at my signature.

Edit: I see what you're saying, the guys on a budget and getting a K-series board is probably not worth it. It would be better for him to get a 4 core CPU instead of basically the lowest end K-series; the G3258.

You may want to consider a graphics card that has more than 2GB of VRAM if you want to do anything higher than 1080p gaming.
