Did I make a mistake in buying a msi z97s sli krait edition? is there something better and cheaper? or is the the best for the money (brought for £88)

it's a veery good motherboard 

nothing more expensive would give you better performance anyway

 

so you didn,t make any mistake

that's good mainly brought due to the colour scheme ha but as its my first intel build didn't want to buy crap

 

only issue that's playing my mind is I went £50 over budget (brought a i5 4690k) not a lot I know but I'm short for the month now so I was wondering is there better or some the same for cheaper?

No.You did have some more higher end flagship boards such as the Asus Z97-A and the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 and the Gigabyte Z97-UD5H

 

They are more expensive too lol.

What are you planning to do with your system? Streaming, Editing and gaming. Or just gaming.

Editing and gaming (I'm starting up my own business as a graphic designer so I'm gonna be editing on this till I can afforded to buy my own) did have a 990xa ud3 with a fx 8320 but I felt like change to intel and someone offered me £230 for my amd cpu and mother board so I took it
