For gaming

Go to solution Solved by o0Martin,

Doesn't matter. At all.

As in the spec itself isn't what you should be looking at, and a 1/2ms TN can ghost just as bad as a 5ms IPS, or it can show no visible ghosting either way.

And most modern displays will have no issue with ghosting what so ever.

Get an IPS, better colour accuracy, better viewing angles.

Don't let yourself be swayed into getting a TN Panel (If a better IPS option is available for a similar price) just because ill-informed people think it's somehow better for gaming.

Depends what kind of gaming. FPS, strategy, RPG? Id go with the IPS, personally 5ms is good enough for me and they usually have better colours etc? Anyone care to correct?

TN with 1-2 ms, for gaming.

No. If you can tell the difference between 5ms and 1ms (a specification that doesn't have a standard for measuring, and is useless outside of GtG) then I will give you my PC.

IPS all the way, better colours over marketing bull.

The response time is not equal to the real input lag, you will have to look for a professional review for that.

If you want to reply back to me or someone else USE THE QUOTE BUTTON!

Well, the response time isn't a measure of input lag, it's something different. Often mistaken for input lag though

So basically, you can't really tell the difference between the 1ms and 5ms, so might as well go for the colours? How is this monitor? http://www.computersalg.dk/produkt/1071885?varenummer=1071885&utm_source=PriceRunner&utm_medium=PriceRunnerLINK&utm_campaign=PriceRunner

I was thinking of buying 2 of them.

Basically, the quoted spec of response time is the time it takes for one pixel to fall from grey, then to rise to grey again. Now this is all good and well, but it doesn't take into account that all different shades of colours will take different times, and even different shades of greys will take different times, and the quoted spec will not be what you are seeing uniformly across your display when you are actually using it. And as well as that, you can't tell the difference between 5ms and 1ms. And no panel is even truly 1ms, they just use overdrives to make it quicker (Which isn't a bad thing don't get me wrong) TNs and IPS displays both will do this, and it is also the technology which helped to make response times meaningless. unless a quoted G2G response time is over 10-12ms I wouldn't worry.

As for the monitor you picked out, it's a decent cheap one, you could get the same quality even cheaper with the Acer G227HQLbi, and for a little bit more (But the same as the one you picked) the Acer H236HLbid, which imo looks a lot nicer design wise, although I'm not sure how pricing will be in your country, sorry

Advertised response time is PURE BULLSHIT. Just like contrast ratios.

They decided to put that 1ms on TN screens ONLY to fool people who dont know whats up.
So they can keep selling the TN garbage for longer.

THATS IT. THEY WANT YOU TO BUY SUB PAR SHIT FOR LONGER SO THEY LIE AND INVENT NUMBERS ... because people are susceptible to NUMBERS.
