Its files from your old OS, if you already have everything then your fine to delete it.

Search for a utility in the start menu called disk cleanup. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/delete-files-using-disk-cleanup

DO NOT DELETE IT! Use Disk cleanup to remove it, or you'll have orphan entries left in the registry which can slow down your system!

Search for Disk cleanup and run that on your boot drive. It will show you a whole list of unnecessary files for you to delete including windows.old

Generally will give an error relating to permissions... (even if you are the admin)

So, funny thing I found out. I ran CCleaner, it so just happens that CCleaner didn't want that windows.old folder around and removed it. I didn't know it did that. But otherwise you use Disk Cleanup
