I am running solid works flow simulation and currently have a six core upgraded from an Intel dual core that was OCd to 3 ghz. I was wondering if it would be worth upgrading to an 8 core, or if it would be better to get a better graphics card (currently 6670).

Does not having a second parenthesis around something bother anyone else as much as it does me? (Like if this statement was missing a second side)

As long as the program you're running supports and can effectively use as many threads/cores you can throw at it, more is better.

It will be better, however the price to performance may not be suitable for your current applications. If you feel that you really do need the extra cores, then by all means, upgrade to an 8 core CPU.

Go for something like a lower-end Quadro or Firepro, you will not see any real benefit out of a GeForce or Radeon HD card.

A Quadro card would accelerate Solidworks Simulation alot, so I would recommend that over an 8 core CPU.

You may get more use out of a Quadro card, as you can use it to accelerate other applications too (eg Adobe Suite, 3DS Max).
