OK, so rca connections seem simple, with just the positive and negative.

But what about rca video?

How do you make video with only one pos/neg?

And what about S/pdif not using optical, using rca style cable instead?

How does that get 5.1 channels?

S/PDIF is digital, so you can really do whatever you want as long as you have the bandwidth. Doesn't really matter how many pins you have or don't have.

 

Composite video is more complex. It's here, if you can decipher it :P

it's a bit more complicated than that, it has a large bandwidth range for each color and picture data it can differentiate between each with a way to re-create the image, It's similar to coax cable where it can carry phone, internet,and HD TV via a single main conductor into your home.
