I've been in to PC building for a while.  I want to try my first liquid cooled PC, and I'm almost finished my design concept.  Let me know what you think?

Can't really give advice on it since I've never done water cooling but I will say that the color scheme is badass :D

CPU: I7 4790k  CPU Cooler: NH-D15 GPUMSI 970 4gb   Motherboard: z97 Gaming 5 PSU: Corsair hx850   Ram: Corsair Vengeance 8 gb  SSD: Samsung 850 Evo  Case: Air 540

@Rusty_Shackleford .  Thanks for the feedback,  I hope to start it soon.

@W-L.  I planned on adding a T for the drain on the bottom of the loop.  And the PSU isn't pictured, but it will go in the normal position where the Lian Li case has it positioned. See below:

v359-2.png

Id recommend using petg instead of acrylic and the loop layout looks badass

I will definitely check this out!

If you have 2x gpu+ cpu it might be a little warm but it also depends on your location, it's a nice concept, generally I go by this rule, 1 radiator for every part.

The rule I've always heard and I personally go by is 120mm per part.  Since he has 480mm of radiator space, he should be fine.

CPU: Intel i7 4790k @4.7ghz - RAM: HyperX Savage 16GB DDR3 Memory @2400mhz - GPU: Nvidia GTX 970 3.5GB @1500mhz - Mobo: Gigabyte Gaming 7 Z97 - Storage: Win10 on 240GB HyperX Predator m.2 SSD, - Ubuntu w/ Gnome 3 on 80GB OCZ Vertex 3 - 500GB Samsung 850 Evo Game Installs - 5TB mass storage - Monitor: 21:9 3440x1440 LG 34UM95 - PSU: Corsair RM 750w - Case: Silverstone FT01 - Cooling: Custom Water Loop

Since this is my first liquid build, do you think one pump will be enough flow for 3 blocks and 2 rads?

Looking at a 12V Laing DDC pump. Flow rate at about 600Liters/H

Love it, you getting custom sleeves for the PSU?

Right away, i don't have experience with custom water cooling but i've heard repeatedly that D5 pumps are better, partitularly Swiftech's MCP655

http://www.swiftech.com/mcp655.aspx

It's what Linus used for the overkill build, 5 rads, so...should be plenty

Jayztwocents uses a D5 pump/reservoir combo if that's something you may be interested

What's the thickness of the radiators

I want to use the Swiftech MCR220-XP, which of 34mm, but suggestiong are welcome.

I am going to do my own sleeving, but I can't decide whether on doing more yellow or doing a complimentary color like blue or purple.  If it wasn't so expensive, I'd look to buy the Teflon Silver Wire.

FEP_Teflon_Silver_Plated_Copper_Wire__88

About the pump, I don't like the Swiftech MCP655 because of the lack of threaded in/outlets.  Since I'm not using flexible tubing this provide some problems.  The D5 pump looks interesting, albeit more expensive, though I did notice it's PWM which is nice.  I need to check the dimensions and fit.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Those are great radiators already but 34mm is a little thin, the slimmest I would do at all is 40mm

Believe it or not, 40mm is just too big and with interfere with the bottom GPU.  34-35mm is pretty much the max thickness. I've read the Alphacool ST30s are really quite good for cooling and are 30mm thick (16 Fins per inch)

Maybe he needs slimmer rads to fit the build, i can see one rad going thicker, the other one maybe 34mm is needed for the whole thing to fit

45mm

I have never heard a negative from alphacool rads

Also i recomended that pump cause your build could use a pump rez combo, would also help with tubing clutter, i found a similar one that's just a pump in case you want a particular reservoir

I can test the fit out in my computer model.  I like the symmetry of the radiator, but maybe it wont be so bad.  Not sure how much perfomance difference going from a 30mm to a 45mm thickness would be.

As for the pump, there are so many options here, it's going to be hard.  I saw performance-pcs.com has a modded Swiftech MCP655 with 1/4 threads.

Cool, you really can buy anything.  I too like the black rads with the yellow fans, plus I want more freedom picking out a paint color for the case and fans itself. Thanks

From 30mm to 40mm rads you will see a difference anything going past 45- 60+ then it's really all the same at that point

I did a quick render.  30mm, 45mm, and 60mm respectively.

For lower RPM's it's best to have the thinner rads say around 30-45mm where thick rads like 60mm or 80mm are more suited for really high rpm fans.

This is great advice thanks.  I planned on low RPM fans for silent operation, Like the Silverstone AP121 at 5V (700RPM)

I got AP121s, they are great but they 3 pins, not PWM, and there are the AP123s which are quieter. Also, i thought you already had the fans. If not, yellow rad with black fans??? :P

JK, it's your build, i just never see people applying an agressive colour scheme to the rads, would be cool

The 60mm one does look a bit overpowering, but i like the 45mm one, gives it a touch of asymetry that balances out the overall motherboard layout

Well I do have some fans from previous build.  They are the Zalman F3 FDB

I could use those as they have great static pressure.  But I only have 3 of them, and I'll have 6 fans total in the end, 4 on the rads, and 1 exhaust in the back, +1 in the bottom for the HDD tray.  I'm plan on the speed controller on the fans so whether 3-pin or 4-pin I dont think I care in the end.  This is pretty much the best little device I've found in a while, but it works best if all the fans have the same specs  http://www.phanteks.com/PH-PWHUB.html

I agree about the 60mm being alittle rediculous.  I could live with the 45mm one. I think it's going to come down to actual dimensions.  I can plan all I want on the computer, but it comes down to reality.  The rad next to the gpu i dont think I would want to go much bigger anyway, even if I could physically go 35mm, the rad would be nearly right against the block - although it would not block 100% it's still not great for airflow.
