Cannot open Explorer Windows

Windows Explorer does not open or run, and there is also nothing on the taskbar. Observing the Task Manager, the explorer.exe process will show up and disappear again except the one instance keeping the taskbar and desktop running. If I have any Control Panel things running, trying to open an explorer window will crash those.

I'm currently running Windows 8 Pro on that machine. I suspected it might be Universal Shield going crazy but after I uninstalled that the problem still persisted.

 

Running ' sfc /scannow ' doesn't do anything as well as going into Safe Mode.

Possible you are infected with virus or malware brother.
