New to pc building. Ive been tinkering around with what i want for a while on PCpartpicker.com. I need to know of any bottlenecks in this build, so i can maybe change some things up.

Please note:

I have a hard drive and SSD at home

I have an OS at home

I just need to know if these parts are a reliable and good combo that does not bottleneck anywhere

1- Use PCpartpicker.com

2-What is your budget? I'm not going to go and add up all the parts myself.

3-The graphic card you chose is awful.

4-Your power supply is for basic builds, not good if you plan to overclock or put load on it.

Definitely get radeon 380 or gtx 960 for only a little more with huge performance boost.

This build is magnitudes faster than what you've posted, and for roughly the same price, only a touch more.

Rational-

  • The 4430 in games and general computer use is far more powerful than an 8350, toting about 43% better single-core performance which is what matters in games.
  • The motherboard is cheap, from a solid brand, and has a usb 3 header to be compatible w/ the case.
  • The power supply is cheap, from a reliable brand, and is semi-modular, meaning easier cable management.
  • The dvd drive is super cheap, decent speeds, and black. (that's all that really matters)
  • The graphics card is considerably far more powerful tha the 660. We're talking a difference of 20+ fps in most cases.
  • The ram has no noticeable difference. It lacks a heatsink, but that's not vital.

Video Card: PowerColor Radeon R9 280X 3GB TurboDuo Video Card  ($202.98 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: LG GH24NSC0 DVD/CD Writer  ($13.99 @ NCIX US)
Wireless Network Adapter: TP-Link TL-WN781ND 802.11b/g/n PCI-Express x1 Wi-Fi Adapter  ($12.10 @ Newegg)
Total: $666.92
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Can't you find a i5 4460 and Z97 H97 board? Not a big difference but the i5 4460 is usually at the same price.

No reason for a z97 board, that's an overclocking board, and the 4430/60 doesn't overclock.

And just to help keep price down I went for the 4430, since it's a few bucks cheaper for 0.1ghz less clock speed.

Still not much of a reason, for the 4430/60 it makes no performance difference in games. For that price point, there are some h97 boards, but none from ASUS, and if I have to rec. a lower end board, then it's going to have to be from Asus, they're the only mobo manufacturer that i trust at that pricepoint.

Asus did release a couple of H97 boards recently, but they are pricey so I see your point.

Interesting story, I made my first budget build around a year ago. I used that exact same motherboard (with an 8350) http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-980de3u3s3 . I hated that motherboard and thought it was super cheap quality. I hated my motherboard and the socket not having much of an upgrade path that I pretty much ended up building a whole new rig like 5 months later (My current rig. Love it for the most part except i really wish I got an MSI 980 instead of a gigabyte one. the gigabyte one looks so out of place in my build)
