I was sitting down to play some Euro Truck Simulator 2, and figured that I should listen to a podcast while driving all across the European continent. I plugged my PC speakers into my phone to continue a podcast I had already started on there, without turning them off, then realized that I wasn't thinking, and wouldn't be able to hear the game sounds with the speakers unplugged - duh. I plugged the speakers back in to my computer, having never turned them off, mind you, and then it started: the buzzing noise.

This buzzing noise does not persist when the speakers are turned off or unplugged from any device, and if I plug in different speakers to the PC, everything is fine and dandy. The buzzing does, however,  appear if I plug the speakers into different device - my phone, my laptop, and an iPad, to be specific. The buzzing is independent from the computer, since I can adjust the volume through windows without making the buzzing louder, and vice versa.

Interestingly, If I rotate the 3.5mm connector that goes into the devices, or angle it slightly and in just the right orientation, the buzzing will go away and it will sound perfect.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what could be causing the problem and wonder whether it could have something to do with the fact that I didn't turn off the speakers before unplugging them from my PC. At any rate, I hope that someone may be able shed some light on the problem and possibly a solution.

The speakers are Logitech z313's

Probably either a pin in the 3mm jack is loose, or there is a wire deformity/break within the cable itself. Shouldn't really be anything to worry about though, as long as there is a way to make the buzzing go away. If the speakers are individually plugged into the subwoofer, make those connections are firmly in, just in-case.

I'm hesitant to accept the conclusion that the jack is the problem, since other speakers work fine in it, and this problem arises on more than one machine. As for the wire deformity/break, well I was hoping that wasn't the problem since I'll have to replace them (though I just checked, they are under warranty until Christmas :D ).

The problem is that I can make the buzzing go away if I find the exact position of the connector which will fix it, but It is so delicate that a tiny shake in the desk will move it and ruin it - not ideal.

Might be worth it to get them replaced under warranty if you can then ^_^. If that's not ideal, then you could find the part where the wire is broken and reinforce it with tape
