boinc project recommendation

Go to solution Solved by o0Martin,

Just pick one from here: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/projects.php

Read up on them and pick one that interests you and that you would like to devote your processing power to!

It also says on that list what kind of devices are supported for each project.

one question how can i join the LTT boinc team? thanks!

Well as far as I know (This is how I've been doing it) you have to do it for each project you join individually!

After you join a project and enter your username/password and all that it will automatically open up in your browser the sites page, from there it will ask you your name and everything, then there will be a box to search for a team, just search LinusTechTips_Team and it should come up, or even just LinusTech will do probably. Click that, click join team, and done :)

Then when you go to your projects page you should see this box on the right: ILC8KaP.png

That will just confirm that you are part of the team for that project. If it doesn't show LinusTechTips_Team, it will give you the option to join a team there instead.

What didn't? o:

When you are done making your account for the project it should give you this:

CvQZteI.png

Then after you click finish it should go to something asking for your name/country/Zipcode (Which you don't need to type in)

Then you click OK, then after that it takes you to another page called, 'Find a team' that looks similar to this:

You search LinusTechTips in the keywords bit, leave the rest blank and it should come up with the team name, then you click on it and somewhere on that page will be the 'Join this team' button, or something similar. Like shown below

Hopefully that somewhat helps!

If you already joined the project but not the team, then just go to your projects home/account page, and you can join it there, like I said in the other post, on the right there will be a 'Member of team' tab that will let you join a team

Which project are you trying to join? o:

Does it still not come up when you just type LinusTechTips and leave all the other fields blank?

the quake thing. yes with every other field blank.

Strange, I can't seem to search for the team with that project either, maybe there just hasn't been one created for it yet, which is possible if it's a new project I guess. (Because I think it needs to be created for each project individually.)

where are the settings?

The Project Web pages listed in the advanced viewer when you select your specific project, I think that's what he's referring to

Yeah I don't think one is made for that project, it seems even if you look through all the Canadian teams LinusTechTips isn't there. Maybe @alpenwasser knows, or can make one.
